Wilma P. Rigby age 89, rural Pennville passed away Tuesday morning at her residence. She was born in Portland April 20, 1927 the daughter of Samuel and Opal (Abbott) Butcher. She was married to Dorwin Rigby and he died in 1981. She was a kindergarten teacher's assistant in the Jay School Corp. and had also worked at Jay Garment. She graduated from Portland High School in 1945, member of Union Chapel Church, Pennville Eastern Star, Portland Vocational Women Club, Bryant Senior Citizens and was an avid bowler.
Surviving are three sons Terry Rigby (wife Mary Ann) of Bryant, Randy Rigby (wife Amy) of Bluffton and David Rigby (wife Jan) of Portland, two daughters Anita Boice (husband Randy) of Portland and Sheryl Lawrence (husband Charlie) of Bryant, Son in law Jim Haffner of Bryant, Nineteen grandchildren and two step grandchildren, Twenty great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Leta Haffner.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Morgan presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM Memorials can be made to Family Life Care or Choice of the Donor.
