William Charles Upp, age 88, of rural Portland passed away on Saturday March 29, 2025.  He was born in Portland on January 22, 1937 the son of Vaughn and Dollie (Hudson) Upp.  He graduated from Portland High School in 1955 then served in the US Army.  He married Berniece Fields on December 12, 1964.  He worked in law enforcement.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years Berniece, a son William Bradley Upp, two daughters Maria Garringer and Elizabeth Inman (husband Rusty) all of Portland, Four grandchildren Justin Upp (wife Katie) of Muncie, Madalyn Garringer (fiancé Jarrod Hubble) of Pendleton, Carson Snyder and Sophia Upp of Portland.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Michael "Mickey" Upp.

Funeral services will be Thursday April 3rd at 4:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Hodson presiding.  Burial will follow in the Weimer Cemetery with military graveside rites.  Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
