Virgil M. Brackman, age 93, of Portland, passed away Sunday morning April 25, 2021 at Miller's Merry Manor in Dunkirk. He was born in Fort Recovery, Ohio on July 12, 1927 the son of Willibald and Marcella (Omlor) Brackman. He married Mary Dean Pogue on December 12, 1974 and she passed away on July 27, 2016. Virgil was retired from Teledyne Portland Forge after working there for forty two years. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Hopewell Life Ministries. He had served with the US Army.

Surviving are three sons Mark Brackman of Surprise, Arizona, Paul Brackman (wife Desi) of Portland and Steve Brackman (wife Irmgard) of Surprise, Arizona, three daughters Ellen Maudlin (husband John) of Lake Mary, Florida, Candace Murphy (husband Rick) of Bluffton and Sue Brandenburg (husband Larry) of Portland, Eleven grandchildren and Eighteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son Jeff Blackford, two brothers Harold and Ralph Brackman and one sister Cecelia Alber

Funeral services will be Friday April 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Herb Hummel presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Jay County Humane Society or Miller's Merry Manor. Online condolences at www.baird-freeman.com
