Victor Dean Overla, age 91, of rural Portland passed away on Friday May 8, 2026 in IU Jay County Hospital.  He was born in Portland on August 30, 1934 the son of Walter and Pauline (Bennett) Overla.  He was married on March 2, 1958 to Thelma Evans who survives.

He was retired from Teledyne Portland Forge, served in the US Marine Corp and was a member of American Legion Post #211 and Portland Eagles Lodge.  He enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Surviving is his wife of 68 years Thelma, two daughters RaMona Imel (husband Greg) of Union City, Indiana and Stephanie Bruggeman (husband Dan) of Portland, one sister Pat Seiss of Ft. Wayne, Twelve grandchildren and Sixteen great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by two sons Walter Dean Overla and Paul Christopher Overla and a daughter Theresa Overla.

Private family services will be held.  Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.  Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
