Verlyn H. "Junior" Reynolds, age 84, of Portland passed away Saturday December 18, 2021. He fought his long, strong battle with Parkinson's Disease with smiles, humor, strength and acceptance each day. Junior was born in Union City, Ohio on September 11, 1937 the son of Verlyn and Alma (Beam) Reynolds Sr. He was married on July 19, 1958 to Erna L. Spille, who passed away on February 28, 2013. Junior retired in 2006 from Teledyne Portland Forge after 32 years as a machinist. He also had a barber shop in Portland for several years. Junior was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Jaycees, Horse and Pony Club and was also involved with Kids Hope Program. Junior loved riding horses and being with family around the campfire.
Survivors are two sons Eric Reynolds (wife Kimbra) of Portland, Darren Reynolds (husband Robert) of Chicago, one daughter Lori Bonvillan (husband Amos) of Portland, two sisters Eileen Shell and Norma Mae Huston, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday December 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Tom Frye presiding. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 – 1:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Jay County Drug Prevention Coalition, Next Steps Program (C/O Asbury United Methodist Church) or other local non for profit organizations.
