Thomas Richard Hodge, age 79, of Portland passed away on Friday May 8, 2026 at his residence surrounded by family.   He was born in Montpelier on October 15, 1946 the son of Paul E. and Jessie E. (Morris) Hodge.  Tom retired from Simons Manufacturing in Redkey and served in the US Army during Vietnam.

Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving is his wife of 60 years Deborah (Grayson) Hodge, sons Shawn E. Hodge, Thomas R. Hodge Jr. and Shane M. Hodge and Jeffery Hiatt all of Portland, one daughter Jennifer D. Murphy (husband Robert) of Chatsworth, Georgia, Brothers Mark Hodge of Portland and Bill Hodge of Decatur, Sisters Joyce Brinkerhoff (husband Kevin) of Portland and Patricia Cook (husband Greg of Portland.  Granddaughters Katie Hensley (husband Lugi Recarte and Ashley Hensley, grandson Bobby L. Hensley all of Sevierville, Tennessee, Step grandson Robert E. Murphy Jr. of Chatsworth, Georgia, Two great grandsons Liam and Alex and two great granddaughters Emma and Hallie, Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Paulette Evans, brothers David Hodge, Raymond Hodge and Kim Hodge and son Richard D. Hall.

There will be no funeral services.  Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.  Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
