Susan E. Betts, age 70, of rural Portland passed away on Thursday April 25, 2024 at her residence.  She was born in St. Mary's, Ohio on February 15, 1954 the daughter of Richard and Juanita (Carter) Bollinger.  She was married on November 15, 1985 to Francis Betts who survives.  Susan had worked for SLT Furniture and Ludwigs Grocery.  She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and her dogs.

Surviving are her husband Francis, one son Chad Bellis (wife Danielle) of Portland, one daughter Tara Leese (husband Shaun) of Winchester, two step sons Josh Betts of Pennville and Stephen Betts (wife Rochelle) of Pennville, one step-daughter Michelle Michael of College Grove, TN., one sister Ann Bollinger of Bryant, two half brothers Rick Bollinger of Bryant and Chad Bollinger of Berne.  Fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two brothers Glen Bollinger and Johnny Bollinger.

There will be a celebration of life service at a later date.  Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.  Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
