Stewart M. Smith, age 81, of rural Portland passed away on February 24, 2025 in St. Vincent Hospital in Winchester, Indiana.  He was born on June 19, 1943 in Ransom, Kentucky the son of Virgil and Esta (Hatfield) Smith.  He had worked as a truck driver for many years.

Surviving are two sons Stewart R. Smith of Greenville and Joe D. Smith of Greenville, two daughters Holly Marie Smith of Greenville and Amy Jo Smith of Greenville, two brothers Fred Smith of Salamonia and one sister Joyce Helvy of McAndrews, Kentucky.  He was preceded by four brothers and a sister.

There will be no funeral services.  Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.  Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
