Rosemary Weaver age 94, of Portland died Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Lincolnshire Place Memory Care in Fort Wayne. Rosemary was born in Jay County on April 26, 1926, the daughter of Alva Ray and Anna R. (Glentzer) Orr. She graduated from Portland High School in 1942 and moved to Dayton, Ohio where she worked as a secretary at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. After her return to Jay County, she was married on July 30, 1948 to Jim Weaver, who preceded her in death on April 8, 1983. She worked at Citizen's Bank, Jay Garment and Sheller Globe, retiring from Sheller Globe in 1982. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Portland. Jim and Rosemary enjoyed traveling and square danced for many years.

After her retirement Rosemary enjoyed many activities, including golfing, bowling, playing cards, painting and pencil sketches, ceramics, and working jigsaw puzzles. She also enjoyed being with her family and working in her flowers. She traveled frequently with her family and her friends and was able to enjoy the sights from Alaska to Hawaii to Spain.

Surviving are her daughter Linda Stergar of Geneva, son Steve and his wife Lola of Leo, Indiana, one granddaughter Jennifer (Jeff) Brown of Mooresville, two step grandsons, Jay (Peggy) and Kenny Kimes of Fort Wayne and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father Jesse Ashcraft Sr., sisters Jean Ashley and Joan Freiberger, and her step-brother Jesse Ashcraft Jr.

The family thanks everyone at Linconshire Place for the excellent care of Rosemary during the pandemic months when we were unable to visit with her.

Visitation will be Tuesday October 13, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery. Masks will be required for attendance at the visitation and funeral service; please observe safe social distancing. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Alzheimer Association or Heartland Hospice 1315 Director Road #210 Ft. Wayne Indiana 46808
