·         Ronald "Ron" Acker, of Ridgeville, a beloved grandfather, father, and longtime member of the community, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 6th  at the age of 89.
Born on January 9th, 1937 in Portland, IN, Ron was the son of Arthur & Elizabeth Acker. He grew up with a strong sense of dedication, a steady perspective, and an admirable work ethic that stayed with him throughout his life. Over the years, he was known for his skilled hands as a craftsman, his sharp intelligence, and his passion for family.

Family was the absolute cornerstone of Ron's life. He was a proud and devoted grandfather who took immense joy in watching his family grow, anchoring them with his quiet wisdom, quick wit sense of humor, and consistent support; his presence brought comfort and strength to those he loved.

He is survived by his wife Janet of 69 years; his children, Russell (wife Jennifer) & Randy Acker (wife Jennifer), his four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

His thoughtful nature, steady guidance, stubbornness, and the deep love he held for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services will be Friday September 11th at 12:00 Noon in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Denney presiding.  Burial will follow in the Lawndale Cemetery with military rites by Ridgeville American Legion.  Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 – 12:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jay County Cancer Society in Ron's memory.
