Richard Lee Knight age 77, 624 South 200 West Portland passed away Thursday morning at hisresidence.
He was born in Muncie, Indiana on November 5, 1938 the son of Edward and Grace (Hamilton) Knight..
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Portland. He was the past owner of a furniture store in
Lansing, Michigan, and also worked at 3M in Hartford City. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps. for 4
years.
Surviving are his 1 sister Mary E. (Fred) McKinley of Eaton, In; Brother-in law David(Sally Beard) Carlson
of Portland; Sister-in-law Donna (Carlson)Tyndall of Portland; several nieces, nephews, as well as, several
great nieces and nephews. His wife Judith preceded him in death in July 26, 2006
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Mark
Strietelmeier presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from
12:00 – 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the Family Life Care of
Berne, Indiana or the Jay County Humane Society.
