Richard D. Joy age 87, 248 North Charles Street Portland passed away early Saturday morning in the Jay County Hospital. He was born November 17, 1929 in Weirton, West Virginia the son of Frank and Leone (Cougill) Joy. He was married July 23, 1949 to Lola Vickers who survives. He retired in 1993 as Director of Operations for DeNova. He was a member of Jay Lodge #87 F&AM, Portland Elks Lodge, Portland Moose Lodge and attended Mount Zion Church.
Surviving are his wife Lola, Two sons Rick Joy of Richmond and Bob Joy (wife Kathy) of Fishers, one daughter Nancy Joy of Seattle, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the Portland Elks Lodge with Pastor Darrell Borders presiding. The family will receive guests from 10:00 AM until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers the family would like Memorials to be made to the Portland Elks Lodge.
