Michael Lake, age 79, of Portland passed away Monday September 14, 2026 at his residence.  He was born in Portland on August 22, 1947 the son of Warren "Pic" and Eva (Champ) Lake.  He was a 1964 Portland High School graduate.  Mike had worked at Haynes Mill and Portland Forge before moving to Florida for forty-two years.  While in Florida he worked as an office manager for Texaco Distributing, for landscaping company and Mercury Marine.  He enjoyed deep sea fishing.

Surviving is his brother Randy Lake of Portland.

Private services will be held with burial in the Salamonia Cemetery.   Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.

Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
