Maurice W. Alsip age 72, of Portland passed away Sunday February 14, 2021 in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born in Keno, Kentucky on January 6, 1949 the son of Wiley and Frona (Young) Alsip. He was an antique dealer, member of the Moose Lodge and 1968 Portland High School graduate.

Surviving are one son Chad Alsip (wife Misty) of Redkey, one daughter Ginger Upchurch (husband Brian) of Greenfield, Indiana, three brothers Bill Alsip of Albany, Doug Alsip of Yorktown and Randall Alsip of Livingston, Tennessee, one sister Vivian Drake of Albany, Six grandchildren Payton Upchurch, Paige Alsip, Brook Pridgen, Grant Alsip, Brittney Upchurch and Larkin Alsip, three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Jay Alsip and sister Carolyn Caroll.

Memorial services will be Saturday February 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Stone presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society. Online condolences at www.baird-freeman.com
