Mary Lucinda Premer, age 89, former Pennville resident, passed away on Saturday February 21, 2026 in The Waters of Hartford City.  She was born in Jay County on July 1, 1936 the daughter of Roderick and Althea (Arbaugh) Stowell.  She was married on September 19, 1954 to Philip Premer and he passed away on December 19, 2019.  Mary Lu was retired from Jay County Hospital where she worked in medical records.  She was a 1954 Portland High School graduate, member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority and served on Jay County School Board, Jay County Council and Knox Township Trustee. She was an avid reader.

Surviving is one son Mikel Premer of Pennville and one daughter Debra Dixon of Albany, brother Terry Stowell of Fishers, sisters Elizabeth Rozengard of Michigan and Nancy Rogers of Anderson,  several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Roderick Stowell, Harvey Stowell, Walter Wine and a sister Barbara Landess.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 28th at 11:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 AM.  Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society or Salvation Army.
