Mary Lou Isch, age 89, of Bluffton and formerly of Petroleum passed away on Monday May 11, 2026 in River Terrace Estate in Bluffton.  She was born in Jay County on October 5, 1936 the daughter of Lowell and Georgetta (Williams) Strait.  She was married in 1957 to William Isch and he preceded her in death.

She was a 1954 Pennville High School graduate and earned her Batchelor's and Master's degrees from Ball State University.

Mary Lou was retired as a teacher for Geneva Elementary, member of Ossian United Methodist Church, Nottingham Home Extension Club, Delta Theta Tau Sorority and En Vant Literary Club.

Surviving is a son David Isch of Lafayette, sister Glenda Williams of Virginia.  She was preceded in death by a son James Isch and brother William Strait.

Funeral services will be on Saturday May 23rd at 11:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland with Pastors Tim and Sherry Mann presiding.  Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.  Memorials can be made to the Georgetta Strait Scholarship Fund via the Portland Foundation.
