Mary Ruth Godfrey age 88, former rural Portland resident passed away Wednesday evening in Miller's Merry Manor in Dunkirk. She was born in Jay County July 27, 1928 the daughter of Marion and Ocie (Coleman) Havens. She was married March 3, 1950 to Wilfred L. "Bud" Godfrey and he passed away May 26, 2004. She was a homemaker and attended the West Walnut Street Church of Christ. She was a Poling High School graduate.
Surviving are two sons Donald Godfrey (wife Cathi) of Bryant and Steve Godfrey (wife Gail) of Portland, two grandchildren and one great grandchild
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Phillips presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the West Walnut Street Church of Christ or the Choice of the Donor.
