Maria R. Grady, age 53, of Portland passed away on Monday May 11, 2026 in Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.  She was born in Bluffton on June 4, 1972 the daughter of Dick Kunkle and Shirley Butler Brinkerhoff.  Maria had worked for MSSL in Portland, was a 1990 Jay County High School graduate and enjoyed crafts and listening to music.

Surviving are two daughters Mya Walker of Indianapolis and Desiree Walker of South Bend, her father Dick Kunkle (wife Frankie) of Portland, her mother Shirley Brinkerhoff of Portland and two brothers Sean Kunkle (wife Debi) of Portland and Kyle Kunkle of Portland, her companion for 17 years David Grady of Portland and her niece Maci Huelskamp whom she called "Bird".

Funeral services will be Friday May 15th at 12:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding.  Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 – 12:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to Breanna's Hope.
