Marcia L. Ford, 93, of Fort Wayne, and former Portland resident, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 24, 2026.  She was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 1, 1932 the daughter of Gareth and Caroline (Madden) Jellison and spent part of her early childhood in California before settling in Portland, Indiana.  Marcia graduated from Portland High School in 1950 and went on to serve her community through various jobs and volunteer roles.  She worked as a bank teller and later as a tutor with Jay School Corporation.  She moved to Fort Wayne and worked as a bookkeeper for her son Doug until her retirement before moving to Sarasota, Florida then back to Fort Wayne to be with family.  Of all of her roles in life, the one she most cherished was being a mother to her four sons.

On November 29, 1952, Marcia married the love of her life, Robert J. Ford, known to many as Bob.  Together they built a loving family and raised four sons: Steve, Doug, Mike and Matt. Marcia was also blessed with eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She and Bob were devoted members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church during their years in Portland.  She was also a member of Psi Iota Xi sorority.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents Gareth and Caroline (Madden) Jellison, her husband of 48 years Robert J. Ford, her brother Brian D. Jellison and her daughter in law Nancy (Runyon) Ford, wife of Mike Ford.

She is survived by her brother Barry Jellison (wife Rose) of California, sister in law Sheila Jellison (wife of Brian Jellison) of Florida and her four sons Steve of Portland, Doug and wife Carol of Fort Wayne, Mike of Orlando and Matt and wife Lori (Dunn) of Atlanta.

Funeral services will be Saturday May 30th at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to the Portland Foundation.
