Lola Vickers Joy, age 91, of Portland passed away Saturday April 9, 2022 at Independence Village in Fishers. She was born in Chicago on October 18, 1930 the daughter of William and Charlotte (Willette) Vickers. She was married on July 23, 1949 to Richard D. Joy and he passed away on July 8, 2017. She was retired from Teledyne Portland Forge where she worked in the personnel department. Lola was the first woman elected to the Portland City Council and was active in community events for many years. She was a member of Tri Kappa, Womens Giving Circle and Mt. Zion Church.

Surviving are two sons Rick Joy of Richmond and Bob Joy (wife Kathy) of Fishers, one daughter Nancy Joy of Seattle, Wa., one granddaughter Meagan Neagli and one great grandson Brody Joy. She was preceded in death by a grandson Brett Joy and a daughter in law Christie (Lyons) Joy.

A celebration of life service will be Wednesday April 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. The family will receive guests from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Memorials can be made to the United Way of Jay County. Online condolences at www.baird-freeman.com
