Linda J. Valentine age 74, of Portland passed away Monday August 31, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Portland on September 14, 1945 the daughter of Marion Edward and Leah Margaret (Ashley) Shauver. She was married on February 9, 1991 to James Valentine who survives. Linda had worked for Division of Family and Children and Jay Garment both in Portland. She was a member of the River of Life Church and a 1963 Madison Twp. High School and Indiana Business Collage graduate.

Surviving are her husband James, three sons Larry Hummer (wife Pam) of Leo, Robert Hummer of Ft. Wayne and Richard Hummer II (wife Miranda) of Salamonia, one daughter Dana Allen (husband LaMonte) of Merced, CA., two brothers Robert Shauver (wife Liz) of New Castle and Allen Shauver (wife Kathy) of Portland, one sister Janet Goad (husband Brad) of Muncie, Nine Grandchildren Julian, Loryn, Kelani, Destinee, Trey, Caitlin, Christian, Audrey and Daniel. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Judith Franks and Nancy Arnold.

Funeral services will be Friday September 4, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 PM Friday. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
