Laura Sours, age 71, of Portland passed away on Saturday October 4, 2025 in IU Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.  She was born in Portland on October 2, 1954 the daughter of Lester Boner and Dortha (Thwaits) Wright. She was married on July 22, 1977 to Robert Sours who survives.

Laura was retired from Crown Pointe in Portland in 2020 after 20years and had worked for Community Care Center West.  She was a member of Praise Chapel Church of God and served on the church board.

She attended Madison School, 1973 Portland High School graduate and attended Ball State University. She enjoyed spending time with family and her trips to Ft. Myers, Florida.

Surviving is her husband Robert, one daughter Julie Bruder of Goshen, Indiana, one son Justin Sours (wife Lisa) of Troy, MI. and a granddaughter Eve Sours.  Two sisters Georgeanna Aslinger of Portland and Norma Weaver of Berne, eight nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a sister Lena Boner and her parents Lester Boner and Dorothy (Thwaits) Wright.

Funeral services will be Thursday October 9th at 1:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Adair presiding.  Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 – 1:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
