Juan M. Serna, age 52, of Portland passed away Saturday September 24, 2021 in St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born in Matamoros, Mexico on November 10, 1968 the son of Pedro and Amelia (Varagas) Serna. He has been married for 27 years to his wife Maria Mendez. He was a construction worker for Four Star Construction.

Surviving are his wife Maria, his mother Amelia Serna of Mexico, two sons Jesus Serna (wife Shannon) of Fort Recovery, Ohio and Juan Serna Jr. of Portland, two daughters Jessica VanMatre (husband Brandon) of Valparaso, Indiana and Ximena Serna of Portland, One brother Pedro, six sisters Maria Guadalupe, Maribel, Leticia, Flora, Nohemi and Priscilla and two grandchildren Miguel VanMatre and Milo VanMatre.

Funeral services will be Tuesday September 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Huey presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Memorials can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
