John Lee age 71, 932 East 400 North Portland passed away early Sunday in I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Born in Hartford City February 14, 1946 he was the son of Louis and Edith (May) Lee. He was married Sptember 14, 1984 to Patricia Elzey who survives. He was retired from Jay Products in Portland. He served with the US Army from 1963-1966 and the National Guard from 1982-1989. He was a member of American Legion Post #211 in Portland and VFW in Geneva.
Surviving are his wife Patricia, Four sons John Lee Jr. (wife Misty) of Bellville, MI., Kevin Lee of Canton, MI., Tom Franks (wife Lish) of Berne and deceased son Tony Franks (wife Allison), One daughter Tammy Wible (husband Shawn) of Portland, Two brothers Melvin Lee of Phelps, KY and Elvis Lee of Harlan, KY, Five sisters Ruth James of Huddy, KY, Patricia Nichols of New Castle, Judy Peniston of Wabash, Phyllis Davis of Warren, MI and Cathy Tulissi of Colorado, Fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Abner presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #211. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 – 8:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
