Joanna M. Stone, age 96, of Portland passed away on Monday August 19, 2024 at her residence.  She was born in Portland on December 4, 1927 the daughter of Valentine and Margaret (Mangas) Wrightsman.  She was married on October 9, 1949 to G. Kenton Stone and he preceded her in death in 1965.  Joanna had taught business at University of Arkansas at Monticello, Eastern New Mexico University in Portalas and McPherson College in Kansas.  She also worked for Haynes Milling Company for 32 years and The Glass Bonsai in Portland.  She was a graduate of Portland High School in 1945 and earned her B.S. and M.B.A. from Ball State University.  She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was Financial Secretary for 30 years, Order of the Amaranth Indianapolis Court 1, Order of the Amaranth Daylight Cour 31 of Franklin, Cincinnatus League of Portland and Jay County Historical Society.

Her sister N. Jeanne Wrightsman Wilson and brother in law Harry F. Wilson preceded her in death.  Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held  in Green Park Cemetery.  Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
