Jim R. McCord age 70, passed away Tuesday morning July 3rd at his home in rural Portland. He was born January 8, 1948 in Oak Park, Illinois the son of Glenn and Rosemary (Fleener) McCord. He was married January 20, 1973 to Mary Chappuis who survives. He had been owner and operator of McCord's 5 & 10 in Redkey, Dunkirk, Geneva, Albany and Eaton and also was a Real Estate Appraiser and Real Estate Broker. He was a member, trustee and elder in the First Presbyterian Church, member of Portland Rotary Club, Board Member of Jay-Randolph and Arts Place, 1966 Redkey High School graduate and earned a BA in School of Business from Indiana University.

Surviving are his wife Mary, two sons Matt McCord of Indianapolis and Tom McCord of Orlando, Florida, one brother Mike McCord (wife Pamela) of Louisville, Kentucky, one sister Mary Alice McCord Gregory of Mount Dora, Florida and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rex Espiritu presiding. Family will receive guests from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church, Family Lifecare or Arts Place. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
