Jerry L. Bell Sr. age 80, 123 West Seventh Street Portland passed away Thursday in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare. He was born in Hartford City July 6, 1937 the son of Ed and Inez (Peck) Bell. He was married September 14, 1956 to Carolyn Wyatt who survives. He served on the Jay County Sheriff Department for thirty years and was Redkey Town Marshall for five. He is a member of the Indiana Sheriffs Association, Fraternal Order of Police, Rescue 19, 1972 graduate of Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and Deputy Director of Jay County Emergency Management.
Surviving are his wife Carolyn, two sons Jerry Bell Jr. (wife Krystal) of Portland and Timmie Bell of Portland, two daughters Corina Boice of Portland and Deanna Cline (husband Trent) of Portland, one brother Tony Bell of Hartford City, two sisters Jeannie Hunnicut of Bluffton and Ruby Porter (husband Neal) of Riverside, CA. Eleven grandchildren and thirteen great.
Memorial services will be held at a later time through the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Care Trak through Jay County Sheriff Reserve or Jay County Law Enforcement Youth Camp.
