Janet L. Stump, age 80, of rural Portland passed away on Friday May 26, 2023 at her residence.  She was born in Portland on October 10, 1942 the daughter of Jack and Mary (Bergman) Hough.  She was married on September 3, 1970 to Mark Stump and he passed away on March 28, 2022.  Janet had worked for Pak A Sak and Circle K in Portland.  She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Good News Club, Children's Church, Portland High School graduate and enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are one son Neil Rinker (Companion Amanda Moore) of Portland, Four daughters Cindy Bales of Portland, Margaret "Meg" Chaney (husband Randy) of Fortville, Carla McCollum of Pennville and Michele Colburn of Bonita Springs, FL., one sister Norma Nichols of Bryant, Ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter Melinda Hopton, granddaughter Debbie LeMaster, great grandson Garry Gadberry III, brother Richard Hough and son in laws Stephen McCollum and Kenny Bales.

Funeral services will be Thursday June 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Cecil presiding.  Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to the family.
