James W. Votaw age 89, of Portland passed away Saturday February 9, 2019 in the IU Jay County Hospital. He was born in Muncie August 19, 1929 the son of Kenneth and Dora (Sanders) Votaw. He was married December 20, 1952 to Nina Stewart who survives. He served with the US Army and was a member of Portland American Legion Post 211 for sixty seven years. He was retired in 1991 from Teledyne Portland Forge after 42 years.

Surviving are his wife Nina, Two sons Mike Votaw (wife Barbara) of Panama City Beach, FL and Doug Votaw (wife Glenda) of Portland, One sister Anne Spear of Oxnard, CA. Four grandchildren, Eleven Great grandchildren and Seven Great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Steve Votaw.

Visitation will be Tuesday February 12, 2019 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home. Private burial services will be held later. Memorials can be made to the Portland American Legion or choice of the donor
