James Caster, age 78, of Portland passed away on Tuesday September 8, 2026 at Majestic Care of Jefferson Point in Fort Wayne.  He was born in Portland on March 14, 1948 the son of Charles and Geneva (Duvall) Caster.  Jim had worked in maintenance for Cooper Farms of St. Henry for over twenty years.  Jim was a 1966 Portland High School graduate.  He was a member of Portland Moose Lodge, Portland Elks Lodge, American Legion and Portland Country Club.  He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing and TaeKwonDo karate.

Surviving is his daughter Sierra Caster of Portland, brother Chuck Caster (wife Diane) of Portland and sister Wanda Sanders (husband Mel) of Portland, Three nieces Amanda, Sammy and Jenny.

Funeral services will be Friday September 11th at 6:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with visitation from 5:00 – 6:00 prior to the services. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
