Jackie Kay Houck age 68, 945 South Shank Street Portland passed away Saturday morning in Swiss Village in Berne. She was born in Portland September 15, 1949 the daughter of Roger and Elnora Jane (Prescott) Bubp. She was married April 11, 1971 to Dave Houck who survives. She was a retired Kitchen Manager for Jay Schools working in Judge Haynes and General Shanks Elementary Schools. She was a member of West Walnut Street Church of Christ, Gamma Nu Sorority, graduate of 1967 Portland High School, graduate 1968 Amber Beauty College and Food Service Classes at Ball State. She was a board member and officer of District 6 Indiana Food Service Association.

Surviving are her husband Dave, one son Ryan Houck (wife Lisa) of Portland, one sister Donna Herrmann (husband Richard) of Junction City, KY, Four grandchildren Callie Houck of Portland, Carrie Fox of Franklin, Christopher French of Portland and Celest French of Portland, Two nieces

She was an avid dog lover and is survived by her two Dachshunds Daisy and Lady.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Gil Alicia presiding. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Pennville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the services Thursday. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society.
