Ilene F. Chapman age 83, 711 West Seventh Street Portland passed away early Tuesday morning in the Jay County Hospital. She was born in Wells County October 2, 1932 the daughter of Marion and Mary Fern (Murray) Gephart. She was married July 30, 1949 to Gerald "Ace" Chapman and he died October 30, 2014. She had worked at Shellers in Montpelier and Jay Garment in the cafeteria.
Surviving are two sons Dean Chapman (wife Crystal) of Bryant and Arthur Chapman (wife Cindy) of Portland, five daughters Mary Lou Ward (husband David) of Ft. Wayne, Kathy Dalrymple (husband Russell) of Ridgeville, Joyce Landers (husband Jeff) of Portland, Bonnie Pogue (husband David) of Portland and Connie Pogue (husband Charles) of Portland, two brothers James Gephard of Florida and Jerry Gephard of Bluffton, one sister June Shaw of Bluffton, 28 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 P.M. In the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Hugh Kelly presiding. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
