Helen I. Williams, age 82, of Decatur and former Portland resident passed away on Friday December 22, 2023 in Adams Woodcrest in Decatur.  She was born in Portland on September 8, 1941 the daughter of Isaac and M. Frances (Long) Haines.  She was named after her mother's close friend Helen Irene Stoner. Helen was married on June 4, 1960 to Richard L. Williams and he preceded in death on January 31, 2018.  She was a 1959 Portland High School graduate and member of New Life Ministries in Portland.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing euchre, word searches and watching game show network.  She was a great cook and baker.

Helen is survived by her daughter Amy Coyne (husband Christopher of Decatur, brother Allen Haines (wife Vicki) of Portland, two granddaughters Ella Coyne and Hannah Coyne of Decatur, several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Nell Miller.

A celebration of life services will be held on April 14, 2024 at 4:00 PM in New Life Ministries, 415 South Helen Street Portland with Dr. Kay Fields presiding.  Memorials can be made to Heart to Heart Hospice.  Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland are handling the arrangements.
