Helen Long age 90, 3937 East S.R. 26 Portland passed away Sunday morning in Albany Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born in Jay County February 20, 1926 the daughter of Harry and Ruth Alice (Hilfiker) Stoner. She was married September 1, 1945 to William Howard Long and he survives. She was a co-owner of Bill's Big Bar in Portland for many years. She was a 1944 Madison High School graduate.
Surviving are her husband Bill, Five daughters Billie Girton (husband Keith) of Portland, Linda Rhodehamel (husband Kevin) of Portland, Vickie Long of Indianapolis, Elaine Murray (husband Mike) of Eaton and Nancy Kreider of Union City, IN., two sisters Eva Hawley of Economy and Judy Guntle of Portland, 10 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 P.M. In the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 – 1:00 P.M. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society.
