George S. Lare age 74, 3683 West 400 South Portland passed away Thursday in Oxford, Ohio following a sudden illness. He was born in Portland May 10, 1942 the son of Clyde and Anna Bell (Goodyear) Lare. He was married August 29, 1966 to Naomi Fields and she passed away May 17, 1996. He was a lifelong Jay County Farmer. He attended Union Chapel Church in Muncie.
Surviving are one son John Lare (companion Angie Hirst) of Ridgeville, three daughters Lynne Daurbert (husband Tom) of Oklahoma, Jane Brewer (husband Lonnie) of Redkey and Sarah Phipps (husband Gail) of LaFontaine, Four grandchildren and preceded in death by one granddaughter
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Collins Glenn presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Jay County Fair.
