Gary A. Butcher, age 62, of Bryant passed away on Thursday June 4, 2026 in Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  He was born in Bluffton, Indiana on October 5, 1963 the son of Elvin and Hope (Hartley) Butcher.  He was married on February 4, 1989 to Debi Milthaler Garringer.  Gary was a self-employed auto mechanic and had worked for Como Service and for Roger Haines ditching.  He was a 1982 Jay County High School graduate and enjoyed go carting and motorcycling.

Surviving is his wife Debi, his father Elvin Butcher of Bryant, his mother Hope Osborne (husband Roger) of Berne, two step sons Tracy Garringer (wife Korrie) of Osceola, IN and Ryan Garringer (wife Beth) of Muncie. One brother Jim Butcher (wife Jeanne) of Havlock, NC, One sister Teresa Wright (husband Ted) of Bryant, Three grandchildren Jacob, Justin and Kaiya, Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday June 12th at 10:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Paul VanCise presiding.  Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant.  Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 – 7:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to the Butcher Family.
