Frederick Phillip Montgomery age 75, of Portland passed away Tuesday March 19, 2019 at IU Jay County Hospital. He was born in Portland March 14, 1944 the son of F.M. "Ted" and Mary E. (Leonhard) Montgomery. He was retired from Hertz Rental Car, had been an underwriter for Lincoln National Life and was manager of Sandy Hollow Apartments. He was a 1962 Portland High School graduate and earned a Batchlor's Degree from Indiana University. He attended Zion Lutheran Church and was a drummer and musician for several years.

Surviving are his son Frederick Griffith Montgomery and daughter Martha Elizabeth Montgomery both of California. Two sisters Linda Jane Minch (husband John) of Berne and Nan Rowles (husband Phil) of Portland, Two grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held Friday April 26, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the Green Park Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Sharon Taylor presiding. The family will receive guests from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
