Ethel May Spear, age 78, of Muncie passed away on Wednesday January 12, 2022 in Golden Living Center in Muncie. She was born in Portland on December 22, 1943 the daughter of Fred W. and Dorothy (Oldham) Coy. She was married on November 21, 1977 to Herman Spear and he passed away on October 14, 2009. She had worked as a secretary for Dorton-Jones Insurance in Muncie. She was a graduate of Portland High School and enjoyed board games, watching wrestling and playing euchre.

Surviving are one son Michael Spear (wife Shirley) of Muncie and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Donald Coy, William Coy and Fred Coy Jr.

Funeral services will be Monday January 17, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland with Pastor Herb Hummel presiding. Burial will be in the Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester. Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
