Ernest E. "Shorty" Theurer age 86, 7462 East 700 South Union City, Indiana passed away early Tuesday morning in the Jay County Hospital. He was born in Jay County December 28, 1929 the son of Herman and Reda (Kunkle) Theurer. He was married June 19, 1948 to Wilma J. Hilfiker who survives. He was a lifetime farmer and member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Salamonia. He was a 1947 graduate of Madison Twp. High School.
Surviving are his wife Wilma, three sons Mike Theurer (companion Melody Bisel) of Portland, Gary Theurer of Union City and Roger Theurer (wife Charlene) of Union City, one daughter Reda Theurer Miller (husband Tod) of Portland, Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and granddaughter.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Owens presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Memorials can be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
