E. Darlene Hunley, age 88, of Portland passed away on Sunday July 26, 2026 at her residence.  She was born in Chicago on January 11, 1938 the daughter of Jesse and Frances (Malone) Steed.   She was married on May 12, 1955 to John Hunley and he passed away on December 3, 2012.  Darlene was a homemaker/

Surviving is two sons John Hunley (companion Yvonne) of Portland and Dan Hunley of Portland, one daughter Janna Snyder (husband Steve) of Portland, three sisters Evelyn Paschal of Daleville, Edna Webb (husband David) of Alexandria and Elenor Selby (husband Steve) of Ft. Myers, Florida, Brother in law Larry Hunley of Mesa, Arizona and Paul Hutzler of Portland Eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren,  She was preceded in death by a brother Charles Steed and a sister Mary Jo Bays.

Private family services will be held with Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Memorials can be made to Jay County Humane Society or Jay County Cancer Society.
