Douglas W. Smitley age 58, of Dunkirk passed away Sunday September 20, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Decatur on January 1, 1962 the son of William and Norma (Salmon) Smitley. Doug had worked for Ardaugh in Dunkirk and was a 1980 Jay County High School graduate. He was an avid bowler and Indianapolis Colts fan.

Surviving are two sons Justin Smitley (wife Brittany) of Dunkirk and Eric Smitley (companion Katie Beougher) of Dunkirk, his mother Norma Smitley of Dunkirk, Fiance Karmella VanSkyock of Dunkirk, one brother David Smitley of Indianapolis, two sisters Debra Masters (husband Mike) of Albany and Deana Asbury (husband Austin) of Fort Wayne, Five grandchildren

Funeral services will be Thursday September 24, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Keppel presiding. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Dunkirk. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
