Donald "Skinny" Byrd age 96, former 406 East Walnut Street Portland resident passed away Saturday in the Jay County Hospital. He was born in New Mount Pleasant December 12, 1921 the son of Albert and Cecil (Bailey) Byrd. He was married to Lillian Councilman and she died in 2011. He was a First Lietenant US Army Ranger and was a self employed brick mason.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery in Portland. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the choice of the donor.
