Diane Marie Whitenack peacefully passed away on July 22 surrounded by her husband of 47 years Gary Whitenack and her best friend and daughter Mandy Whitenack of Chicago.
Diane was the oldest of five siblings who looked up to their bossy, sometimes scary and gutsy sister. Diane had a flare for the dramatics and love of the theater. Two of her favorite roles included "Wicked Witch of the West" in Wizard of Oz and "Dolly" in Hello Dolly. She also had the rare opportunity to perform side by side with her best friend and daughter Mandy in the two lead roles in the Musical City of Angels.
Forty seven years of marriage that started around a euchre table at Vincennes University when she met her forever love Gary. That day forward the sparks never stopped. They enjoyed traveling, eating, dancing and nights at the casino together. Also quiet nights on the farm with Diane's home cooking and their sweet Dog, Yeller at their side.
Diane was filled to the brim with personality. She had a quick wit and enjoyed shocking others with her colorful language. Diane would also love unconditionally and with no judgment. Everyone was welcome in her kitchen. Diane lived her life as a celebration and so many of us were lucky to be audience members.
You have a standing ovation Diane. Take a bow.
Private memorial funeral services will be held in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Taylor presiding. Memorials can be made to Randolph County Antique Tractor Club.
