David M. Hoying , age 66, of rural Portland passed away on Wednesday September 29, 2021 at his residence. David was born in Coldwater, Ohio on June 23, 1955 the son of Robert Henry and Lois (Wendel) Hoying. He was married on April 19, 2003 to Rhonda Langenkamp who survives. David worked at Teledyne Portland Forge for 48 years as a hammer operator. Portland Forge lowered their flag to half mast in honor of David and the family greatly appreciated the kind gesture. He was a 1973 Fort Recovery High School graduate, member of the Blacksmiths Union and member of the Ft. Recovery V.F.W.

Surviving are his wife Rhonda, his mother Lois Hoying of Fort Recovery, two sons Craig Hoying (wife Erin) of Westfield, Indiana and Shane Hoying of Paducah, Kentucky, one daughter Ashley Hoying of Fishers, Indiana, two brothers Robert Hoying (wife Karla) of Middlepoint, Ohio and Mark Hoying (wife MaryAnn) of Grosse Ile, Michigan, one sister Linda Brockman (husband Cy Jr.) of Fort Recovery, Fifteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial celebration of David's life will take place Saturday October 30, 2021 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM in the Ft. Recovery V.F.W.  Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland are in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association.
