David Thomas Hovenstine age 59, of Portland passed away Sunday January 27, 2019 in the IU Jay County Hospital. He was born October 31, 1959 in Rome, NY the son of David Edward and Pauline Violet (Oberlin) Hovenstine. He was married January 27, 2000 to Jenny Ullom who survives. He had worked for Createc and FCC both in Portland. He was a graduate of Shikellamy High School and served with the US Army.

Surviving are his wife Jenny, four daughters, Alicia Revolt (Fiance Katherine Lines) of Fort Wayne, Nina Hovenstine of Pelzer, South Carolina, Nyree Lewis (husband Damion "Mike") of Portland and Tonya Waddups (husband James) of Michigantown, Indiana, three sisters Cindy Johnson, Linda Balestrini and Julie Knouse, Step mother Donna Faye, Ten grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Hundley presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #211. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 – 1:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Conservation Club.
