Carolyn Jean Rickner age 78 of Portland passed away Sunday June 2, 2019 in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. She was born in Portland September 11, 1940 the daughter of Robert and Evelyn Byrum. She was married April 4, 1959 to James Rickner and he died December 21, 2013. She had worked for Marsh Supermarkets for over 40 years.

Surviving are three sons Robert Rickner of Muncie, Richard Rickner of Peru and Steve Rickner (wife Gina) of Fisherville, Kentucky. One daughter Donna Loden (husband Anthony) of Portland, one sister Wanda Derr of Greenville, sister in law Linda Byrum of Portland, Nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Jay Byrum.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 AM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Hines presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Humane Society or Jay County Historical Society.
