Barbara Joan Loy, age 94, of Portland passed away on Monday June 13, 2022 in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare in Portland. She was born in Portland on July 23, 1927 the daughter of Ned and Glome (Rutherford) Gray. She was married to Harold "Chic" Spahr and he passed away in 1971, she later married Calvin Loy in 1975 and he passed away in 2020. Barbara was a retired school teacher having taught in Fort Wayne and Jay School Corp. She was a member of West Walnut Street Church of Christ, Indiana Teachers Association, Tri Kappa Sorority, Sweet Adelines and Jay County Historical Society. She was a 1945 Portland High School graduate and a 1950 Ball State graduate.

Surviving are two daughters Kay Anne Corle (husband Jeff) of Portland and Jane Hernandez (husband Oscar) of Fort Wayne, two step-daughters Nancy Pease (husband Steve) of Fort Wayne and Judy Stoltz (husband Jim) of Lexington, IN., one step-son Rick Loy (wife Beth) of Portland, Daughter in law Mary Spahr of Portland,  Eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons Michael Spahr and Robert Spahr and two grandsons Adam Weaver and Hunter Corle.

Funeral services will be Friday June 17, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 – 1:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Everheart Hospice. Online condolences at www.baird-freeman.com
