Barbara A. Landers, age 73, of rural Portland passed away Monday August 16, 2021 in the IU Jay County Hospital in Portland. She was born on August 6, 1948 in Hot Springs, Arkansas the daughter of Orville and Grace Marie (Roysden) Short. She was married on October 29, 1966 to Lester J. Landers who survives. She had worked for Kerr Glass and H & R Block for fifteen years. She had attended New Covenant Church and was a graduate of York Institute in Jamestown, Tennessee.

Surviving are her husband Lester, one son James M. Landers of Portland, one brother Ed Mackey of Muncie, one sister Bonnie Mace of Muncie and two grandchildren Chelsea Barker of Florida and Jordan Steed of Portland. She was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Marie Steed, brother Carl Wayne and sister Louise Garrison.

Funeral services will be Friday August 20, 2021 at 5:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Myers presiding. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society. Online condolences at www.baird-freeman.com
