Anita P. Hall, age 94, of Portland passed away on Tuesday September 29, 2026 in Persimmon Ridge Healthcare in Portland. She was born in Portland on February 14, 1932 the daughter of Wm. Quincey and Thelma P. (Smith) Miller. She married Joe Hall on October 25, 1951 and he passed away on January 2, 2008. Anita graduated from the Portland Panthers in 1950. She worked at the Wayne Township, Spaulding Chiropractic, Maitlen Motors, a long time Avon Representative, and was a secretary for 3 mayors in the 70’s through the 80’s. She volunteered with the Jay County Hospital Auxiliary past president four times and board of directors, Jay County Historical Society, DAR, and Portland Panther Alumni. She was honored with the Cincinnati League Lifetime of Service award in 2024. She was a member of the PSI IOTA XI Sorority, Job’s Daughter International, Asbury United Methodist Church, Legion Post 211, and Ol’ Blue Hair Racing. Her hobbies included listening to Radio Rob and radio auctions, attending and listening to Jay County sports, watching and listening to IU Basketball and Football, watching and buying QVC, going to the Great Jay County Fair, doing cross stitch pictures, collecting cookbooks, doing word searches, and she enjoyed going to the lakes at their cottage. Every Thanksgiving she would give out Christmas ornaments to the grandkids.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Ann May (husband Terry) of Greenville, Ohio, a son Jeffrey Hall of Portland, Indiana, grandkids Joey Hall of Portland, Matt Hall of Portland, PJ May of Kettering, Ohio, Lisa Shaffer of Greenville, Ohio, Trent May of Arcanum, Ohio, and 11 Great Grandkids. She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, still born daughter Joetta Lynn Hall and daughter-in-law Mellissa Hall.

Funeral services will be Saturday October 3rd at 12:00 Noon PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Terry May presiding. Burial will follow in the Green Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 – 12:00 PM in the funeral Home.
