Alice R. Franks, age 81, of Portland passed away on Sunday June 28, 2026 in IU Jay County Hospital.  She was born in Muncie on August 15, 1944 the daughter of Chester and Dorothy (Small) Davis.  She was married on September 28, 1961 to Paul Franks and he passed away on September 15, 2019.  Alice worked as a custodian for county agencies and was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church.  She enjoyed baking, spending time with family, going for walks and biking.  Alice was an outgoing and helping person.

Surviving is three sons Chester Franks (wife Amy) of Portland, Doug Franks of Portland and Lucas Franks (wife Anna) of Portland. Three daughters Arlinda Etchison (husband Jerry) of Frankton, Sheryl Ballard (husband Greg) of Portland and Sabrina Pax of Portland. Two brothers Fred Davis (wife Patti) of Winchester and Charles Davis (wife Jenny) of Muncie, Three sisters Sandra Potter (husband Frank) of Fort Wayne, Darlene Hart (husband Richard) of Parker City and Pam Carpenter (husband Rod) of Winchester  Fourteen grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a brother Richard Davis.

Funeral services will be Friday July 3rd at 2:00 PM in the Baird=Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Arnold presiding.

Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Farmland. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.  Memorials can be made to Kidney Foundation or Jay County Cancer Society.
